Hebei Foreign Studies University has Signed Contracts with 15 Universities in Cuba, and Will Do World-Wide Scientific Research with 357 International Cooperation Universities

     On the afternoon of February 5th local time in Cuba, the delegation from Hebei Foreign Studies University(HFSU) visited the Medical University of Santiago, Cuba. Dr. Migdalia, President of the school, warmly welcome Academician and President Sun Jianzhong's arrival, as well as the delegation from HFSU.

     Before the signing ceremony, the Medical University of Santiago, Cuba specially arranged all staff to stand up and sing the National Anthem of the Republic of Cuba and the National Anthem of the people's Republic of China to express the friendship between China and Cuba. At the same time, the education delegation of HFSU received the highest international courtesy from Medical University of Santiago. 

     Dr. Migdalia, President of the Medical University of Santiago, Cuba, introduced the school briefly. The school was founded in 1962, has 5 medical departments, 14 large hospitals, 4 dental clinics, 42 large clinics, 1060 health centers, 39 Rehabilitation treatment rooms, 10 mother and baby homes, etc. There are 9399 undergraduate students and 3149 graduate students. At present, there are 608 foreign students from 41 countries in the world, including 130 foreign students. The school has 3131 teachers, including 58 professors, 651 associate professors, 1419 lecturers and 1003 assistants. There are four national first-class undergraduate majors (Medical major I, Medical major II, Stomatology, and Nursing Science), 50 master's majors, 45 of which are medical majors, 5 are nursing majors, and five of them are national first-class majors. Since its establishment, the Medical University of Santiago, Cuba has trained 49259 graduates, including 4000 foreign students.

     Under the witness of all the leaders of the Medical University of Santiago, Cuba and the education delegation of HFSU, Academician Sun Jianzhong, Chairman and President of HFSU, and Dr. Migdalia, President of Santiago, Cuba, successfully signed the framework agreement on international cooperation, and both two parties have reached a number of cooperation intentions in the fields of International Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, China-Cuba International Friendship Hospital, medical and nursing talents training, scientific research, scientific research sharing, teachers and students exchange visits, biomedicine, etc.

     Dr. Migdalia, President of the Medical University of Santiago, Cuba, said that: “We are very willing to carry out international exchanges and cooperation with HFSU and build a ‘China-Cuba International Friendship Hospital’. I believe that today we have opened a new journey of international exchanges and cooperation with HFSU and has written a new chapter of friendly cooperation.”

Cuba has five national first-class universities, and HFSU cooperated with them all (Havana University, Central University of Las Vegas, Oriental University, Havana University of Technology, Camaguey University). Up to now, the number of international cooperation universities in HFSU has reached number 357, involving 82 countries.

In the 2106 mu new campus of HFSU, there is a 12000 square meter International Artificial Intelligence Research Institute building is built separately, The Institute brings together experts in the field of Artificial Intelligence from Camaguey University, Central University of Las Vegas, Havana University of Technology, Havana Agricultural University, Havana University, Cienfuegos University and Oriental University of Cuba. Combined with the development needs of education, environmental protection, energy, medical treatment, modern agriculture, smart city construction, biopharmaceutical industry, etc. in Hebei Province, China. Carried out artificial intelligence exploration and scientific research, directly serve the needs of Hebei Province and the country in various fields.

The hospital will introduce Cuba's leading medical experts, medical technology, biopharmaceutical products, etc., so that the Chinese people can share the achievements of Cuba's medical technology development.

     With the in-depth visit, we have learned that Cuba is at the forefront of the world in terms of scientific research theory in the field of artificial intelligence and in terms of medical technology.
