The Online Summer Camp of “Embrace China, Tell You Stories” Kicked Off in Our School

On the afternoon of May 30, Hebei Foreign Studies University held the opening ceremony of the online summer camp “Embrace China, Tell you Stories” by means of online video with overseas participating organizations. This online summer camp is hosted by All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese of Hebei Province and Federation of Overseas Returned Chinese of Shijiazhuang City, and assisted by Hebei Foreign Studies University. The 15-day summer camp aims to help overseas Chinese children and teenagers to learn Chinese, listen to Chinese stories and understand Chinese culture during the epidemic.




Due to the severe situation of Novel Coronavirus of the global spread, we took a special teaching and learning way of online interaction. The participantsare divided into children’s group and juvenile’s group based on their age.

At the opening ceremony of the third “Embrace China, Tell you Stories”online summer camp, Liu Qi, director of Cultural Exchange Department of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, said: “ I hope the participants will go into the story with us and complete small assignments, meanwhile they can protect themselves in epidemic prevention and control and grow up healthily. I wish them a happy International Children’s day.

Sun Jinkang, vice-chairman of Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese of Hebei Province delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. Hewished that ethnic Chinese should take the online summer camp as an opportunity to enhance their Chinese feelings, strengthen the roots of the Chinese nation, build up the soul of Chinese children, and strive to be little messengers for China-foreign exchanges. 


Wang Qiang, vice chairman of the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese of Hebei Province and Party secretary and chairman of Federation of Overseas Returned Chinese of Shijiazhuang City, provided guidance for the activity and wished it a complete success.


Professor Xi Wei, executive principal of our school, extended her warm welcome to the participants of this summer camp and hoped that they could learn happily and gain something. 


Hou Jianping, president of the Youbo Culture and Education Association and business representative of Hebei in Germany, made a congratulatory video, expressing that the activity would stimulate the participants’ interest in learning Chinese and better understand their motherland. 


The representatives of participants and parentsof the two groups also showed their thanks to the organizers and their expectations for this summer camp.


















The overseas head teachers of the summer camp, Ms. Wang Xiaowei and Ms. Xin Liya, made concluding remarks respectively to encourage the participants to study hard and set requirements to everyone.

This summer camp has recruited 48 participants from Germany, France and Zambia with the strong support from Youbo Culture and Education Association, Ludwigsburg Bowen Chinese School and Stuttgart Chinese School. 

Before the opening of the camp, International Students College of our school made full preparations and produced over ten teaching videos about Chinese culture and Yan Zhao customs, which are rich in content, diverse in forms. The videos help the participants to better learn Chinese, understand China’s long history and culture, and popularize the traditional virtues of China.

After the opening ceremony, the teachers and participants had a heated discussion on the learning content and interactive form. In the next 15 days, the teachers from International StudentsCollege of our school will accompany and interact with the participants to study online and provide timely assistance.
